Dear Friend,

We return to Swaziland today, after nearly two months in the USA

Mary Jean, Andrea and James Robert Kennedy

It has been a wonderful blessing to be able to welcome our first grandchild, James Robert Kennedy, born to Andrea and John in Charleston, South Carolina. We think he is adorable!

We also managed to visit two churches on the West Coast and have a productive meeting with the Board of Directors for African Leadership Partners, Inc. We are marking 12 years since the founding of ALP. We continue to be deeply thankful for these faithful people who pray with and for us, hold us accountable, and give wise advice.

Scott and Liz Messner

We greatly appreciate our new colleagues, Scott and Liz Messner, who arrived just before our departure. They have stepped into heavier than expected responsibilities in our absence, but have handled everything fabulously. Please keep them in your prayers as they continue to learn and adjust to their new lives and responsibilities at New Life Children’s Homes.

Please pray with us for the following:

  1. Wisdom in determining priorities in several areas of our work. Also for the strength to implement.
  2. Mary Jean continues as both classroom teacher and principal of New Life Schools (preschool and primary). She also continues to facilitate the work of the caregivers, and oversee the care of each of the 31 children at New Life Children’s Homes.
  3. New Life Homes needs a new housemother. Unfortunately, one recently left her responsibilities. This requires a most unique, mature and committed person.
  4. Peter continues to expand the work of leadership training, especially in poverty alleviation through the course “Money Matters: God’s Answers to Poverty.” The growth of demand in Zambia is extraordinary, plus calls for ministry in Mozambique. We hope to add other materials (written and visual) to extend the impact. He continues to supervise the development and agriculture aspects at New Life Homes. We’ll start on an earth-fill dam as soon as we return, as well as finish up the produce-pack house.
  5. Funds are needed to add two classrooms for our school. We desire to see these completed in time for the start of the new school in January 2011. We’ll need to start by October.

Thanks for your prayers, love, and support,

Peter & Mary Jean Kopp
