Dear Friends,
This year is one of BIG milestones for Mary Jean and me. We both completed 60 years of life, 40 years in our marriage, and 20 years of ministry in Africa!
Among the few things I can still remember is the time in my life, very long ago now, where I tried to imagine the possibility of each of the above. At the time I found some of them to be incomprehensible, others I ruled out as complete impossibilities!!
Thank GOD, for His amazing faithfulness. In spite of my stumbles, my slowness to imagine, believe, or obey, I'm blessed way more than I deserve!!
As we've reviewed these milestones recently I'm particularly impressed with the number of prayer and financial supporters who have stood with us through these past 20 years of Christian service in Africa. Some who started have passed on to "better things." Others couldn't continue for a variety of understandable reasons. Still others found us along the way, joining with enthusiasm and faithfulness. But it's been 20 years, with over 40 families (and several churches) faithfully giving of their hard-earned resources to make it possible for us to be here. Many have never missed a month!! That’s back before electronic auto-debiting! I'm amazed by such!!
Thanks be to GOD, . . . and to many faithful men and women who reflect His faithfulness in so many ways.
A few updates to praise and pray:
- Courtney Templeton, from California, has been accepted by ALP and is busy raising funds to join us in time for the opening of the next school year at New Life Primary.
- Precious Madzudzo, from Zimbabwe, has been hired to teach alongside Mary Jean and Courtney. She has over 10 year’s experience of teaching and specializes in teaching mathematics.
- New Life Schools were visited this past week by both the Principal Secretary for Education and the Regional Education Officer, which should go a long way to completing the registration of the school, something we’ve been trying to complete for 2 years.
- Pray for Rob & Jennifer Taylor, from Washington State, who are seeking to complete support raising, and hope to join us in the first part of 2012.
- Thanks for praying for “Money Matters 3,” a new program in this sequence. It was attended by more than expected, delivered very well (four different facilitators), and received strong positive feedback. One lady shared her story with me of how in four years their family’s economic situation has completely turned from horrible debt burdens to sparkling progress.
- Pray for our ministry financial situation. Giving is down. Although we’ve cut back, with more lay-offs to come this week, we’re scrapping the bottom of the barrel.
- Too little rain has come so far this season. Many are very worried.
